We do recommend to completely avoid using on plastic and rubber, the 'shiny/glossy' painted plastic parts you are referring to are totally okay. It's the unfinished, raw, usually black or grey colored rubber/plastic such as window trim and plastic bumpers that sometimes have issues.
Furthermore, this product is totally safe to use on all brands of clear-bra, including 3M films. Besides those rubber and plastics mentioned, every other surface is safe such as your Paint, Glass/Windshield, Rims, Chrome and any type of Decals.
